TranScan is becomming an extreemely popular program. Many sysops are
calling daily to ask specificaly how to change from a CATSCAN or ZIPLAB
installation to TranScan. The following documentation should help you
make this change.
TranScan v3.13 to TranScan v4.00 Upgrade for Wildcat v3+ Users
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) Copy TS.EXE, TS.OVR, and TS.HLP to a directory in your path.
2) Change your SCANFILE.BAT as follows:
Old SCANFILE.BAT New SCANFILE.BAT
---------------- ----------------
TRANSCAN %1 TS %1
3) Change the TranScan line in your daily event as follows:
Old Daily Event New Daily Event
--------------- ---------------
TRANSCAN -F TS -L
4) In the FilePath\Name Set-Up the TranScan filenames have changed as
follows:
Old FileName (v3.13) New FileName (v4.00)
-------------------- --------------------
TRANSCAN.LOG TS.LOG
TRANSCAN.DEL TS.DEL
TRANSCAN.BAD TS.BAD
TRANSCAN.LST TS.LST
TRANSCAN.CMT TS.CMT
TRANSCAN.NOT TS.NOT
TRANSCAN.DID TS.DID
TRANSCAN.ADD [See "Configure-TranScan Add List]
5) To configure TranScan at your DOS prompt type the following:
TS
Go to "Configure <Alt-C>". There are MANY options you can
select but most important is in "BBS Set-Up". At the "BBS:" prompt
you need to select "Wildcat v3+". At the "Port Type:" you need to
select "Uart", "Digi", or "Fossil".
At every prompt in TranScan there is extensive context sensitive
help. In fact the "HELP" is the same text found in the TS.DOC file.
I'm sure you will find ALL your answers to ALL your questions at
each set-up prompt just an <F1> keystroke away.
6) Copy the *.IMP files to your directory where MSG0000.DAT is located.
Edit these files as necessary.
Catscan v1.3 to TranScan v4.00 Upgrade for Wildcat v3+ Users
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) Copy TS.EXE, TS.OVR, and TS.HLP to a directory in your path.
2) Change your SCANFILE.BAT as follows:
Old SCANFILE.BAT New SCANFILE.BAT
---------------- ----------------
CD\WC30\WCWORK\%WCNODEID% TS %1
CATSCAN %1
CATADD C:\CATSCAN\CATSCAN.KEY %1 30 61
3) Change the Catscan line in your daily event as follows:

CATSCAN2 TS -L
4) In the Configure-FilePath\Name Set-Up of TranScan the following
Catscan files correspond to these TranScan files:

RUNLATER.TXT TS.LST
BADNAMES.TXT TS.DEL
ADDNAMES.TXT [See Configure-TranScan Add List]
EXCLUDE.TXT TS.NOT
ZIP.CMM TS.CMT
